Just visited the electricity museum in christchurch (dorset, uk) – fascinating and well worth a visit #
upgraded my desktop computer to solid state hard drive – HUGE performance gain. a *must* for database servers #
next "personal computing bottleneck" to be addressed = the keyboard / mouse :/ #
why are all email subscriptions an all or nothing thing ie subscribe or unsubscribe? you need a "send me less email" option. #
@nick_thompson 256GB SSD = £450. 5x performance gain & reliability++ won't get much ECC for £450 in reply to nick_thompson #
@nick_thompson suspect for DB server performance gain much more than 5x however "industrial strength" 256GB SSD (SLC flash) more like £2000 in reply to nick_thompson #
